A Date With My 5 Year Old!

I got to spend the afternoon with our big boy today. We went to the library and then to the indoor playground. It was really fun to read books with him and give him my undivided attention. We had a good visit, too. Then we ran into one of his new little friends when we were at the indoor playground. It is fun to know enough people now that we usually bump into someone when we are out and about. We really are in a great little community. Didn't get any photos of us on our outing. I need to get better about keeping the camera with at all times...and getting the video camera out too. I know we are missing the recording of many special moments...but there is a line too between wanting to enjoy the moment...and wanting to record it. What boggles my mind is the things that they remember. Three Christmases ago, we made a gingerbread train at Great Grandpa XXXXXXX's house. Oldest son brought it up out of the blue last night. "Hey, remember when we made that gingerbread train at Grandpa XXXXXXX's house?" Wow- makes you realize that every moment you spend, and every word that comes out of your mouth is significant. I know there are so many times I loose my patience and say things in way too stern a manner. Or sometimes I make the little things much more important than they need to be...but I am learning. Maybe I'll get it right by the time the last one goes to college! :)
